Octtober 19, 2014 Maple Glen Gardens and on to Dunedin

This was the last full day of our tour of the north and south islands. We were privileged to tour Maple Glen gardens. This was for sure an amazing garden - I mean park. We were there for nearly 2 hours and did not have time to navigate all the areas. It's a 25 acre private garden, nursery, aviary woodland and wetland set in the rolling green countryside of Southland, New Zealand. A couple and their adult son are the owners and only workers in the garden!

Yes, these are trillium!
Mass plantings of bluebells - oh, spring is in the air!
Looking towards the house.
At least 3 man-made lakes in the garden.
Sheep as well in this idyllic garden.
Reflecting on beauty
I just wandered around in complete and utter awe!
More reflections
I love yellow rhodos!
A plant native to Mexico
Red Tussock grass along the roadside
From the coach
Such amazing rolling hills and lush green valleys
A tulip farm from the coach
Golden pheasant at Maple Glen
Great way to get your exercise!
Tiny white wonders!
Another beautiful vista
Black swan - he/she was not particularly friendly
Garth has an amazing ability to capture reflections
I love the frilly edges!
Another pond
Rhodohypoxis
More tulip fields
I love the flax in the foreground.
